Came acrosss this website recently from a family friend. www.topinweb.com it is an amazing resource for free music downloads - not too sure about the legalities behind this site but they sure do have a lot of music available as mp3.
This site has been taken down and with the recent arrest of the megaupload team - sites impinging on intellectual property rights look to be seeing a heavy resistance from Govt. organisations. For music lately check out www.grooveshark.com and www.soundcloud.com
